WCMS continues new community concert series
The Worcester Chamber Music Society will hold its Music on Main concert at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 2, at the Straight Up Cafe in Worcester. The concert will feature WCMS musicians Peter Sulski (violin/viola) and Ariana Falk (cello), Neighborhood Strings and a special appearance by Jose Castillo and his folkloric guitar ensemble.
The Worcester Chamber Music Society held its first Music on Main event in February. Music on Main is a new community concert series, featuring musicians and friends of the Worcester Chamber Music Society in non-traditional neighborhood venues. The series is designed to bring together Worcester Chamber Music Society musicians, students from the society’s Neighborhood Strings program and musicians living and working in the Main South neighborhood in a relaxed, community setting. Neighborhood Strings, now in its second year, is a community-based program that offers free music lessons in violin, viola and cello to youth from the Main South neighborhood.
The one-hour concerts are free, less formal and focus on the Main South community. Kids, first-timers and seasoned concert-goers are all welcome.
The Worcester Chamber Music Society is a musical ensemble founded locally, performing locally and intimately engaged with Worcester County audiences. WCMS seeks to share the rich tradition of chamber music with long-time followers and to introduce new audiences to the music through financially and geographically accessible concerts, outreach and educational programs.
The cafe will be open, and food will be available for purchase. This concert is free and open to the public. For more information, visit worcesterchambermusic.org or call (508) 217-4450.
